The invitation

The printed invitation lying on pale stone: a deckle-edged sheet of ivory paper blind-embossed with a scalloped frame, the broken burgundy wax seal and three chips of it beside the sheet, and a dried sprig laid below.

Nine years ago we stood in the wrong queue together for forty minutes. On the thirteenth of February we would like to stand in the right one, in front of the people who put us there.

The Mass begins at half past two and the doors close for the processional at a quarter past. Dinner follows a ten-minute walk away, in a courtyard that holds a hundred and twelve of you comfortably and a hundred and thirty if everyone breathes in.

From the two of us

Nine years ago we stood in the wrong queue together for forty minutes. On the thirteenth of February we stood in the right one, in front of the people who put us there, and every one of you was in it.

Thank you for the drive into the walls, for the pews, for the second lechon nobody asked for, and for staying in the courtyard until one in the morning. The photographs are on this site now, beside everything you posted from your phones. We are keeping all of it here, at the address the invitation was at.

    Where we said it

The doors closed at a quarter past and opened again at ten to four, onto a street full of petals.

The full order of the day

Ten minutes on footOne street: General Luna, which the older maps still call Calle Real del Palacio. We will be walking it too.

    Where we danced

A motion-blurred last dance under courtyard lights.

Cocktails downstairs, dinner upstairs, dancing everywhere. The courtyard emptied one conversation at a time.
