The roof, getting there and getting home, and what to wear on a black-tie night in black and gold.
The place
The roof at Tala Tower
Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The ceremony is at the east end of the roof with the city behind the arch, and dinner and dancing are on the same roof, so there is nowhere else to go all evening.
Tala Tower and its roof are invented for this design study. Bonifacio Global City is real.
Getting there
Up, and home again
- The lift
- From the lobby, the lifts run to 34. From there, a short stair or the small lift takes you up to the roof. Ushers wait at the lobby and on 34, and your pass is all they need to see.
- By car
- The tower has parking in its basement, B1 to B3, and valet at the lobby from 4:30. From Makati it is about fifteen minutes; give the evening traffic more.
- Getting home late
- The last song is at eleven. Cars queue at the lobby from half past ten, and a pick-up point for ride-hailing apps is at the side entrance, out of the queue.
- The weather
- March is dry and warm: around 27°C after sunset, with a breeze on the roof once it is dark. If it does rain, the ceremony moves under the glass pavilion on the same roof.
- Bring
- A light wrap for the breeze, and shoes for a stone floor: block heels are kinder than stilettos up here.
What to wear
Black tie, in black and gold
Formal, and dark: black is the colour of the night, and gold is half the motif. Six ways to wear it, from a barong to the easy end of black tie.

Check my colour
Pick the colour you are thinking of wearing. White and ivory are the bride’s, and champagne is the entourage’s; everything else dark and rich is welcome.
